In this case, we focus on Critérium du Dauphiné a.k.a. Dauphiné Libéré in the past.

Weather Forecast

First of all, we need to know the weather forecast. If its difficult to predict it for a one day races imagine for a weekly race. Taking the finish stages places as references:

Stage1: Cloudy with 60% rain probability
Stage2: Cloudy with 40% rain probability

Stages

Over 170km around Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule location. Sprinters and puncheurs will fight for the win

A 140km mid mountain stage from Gannat to Col de la Loge (11km - 3.5%) uphill finish. Good chance for puncheurs or GC contenders.

A mid mountain stage again. Over 180km from Celles -sur- Durolle to Les Estables (4km - 5%) uphill finish. Good chance to puncheurs or GC contenders.

Under 35km with a few hilly profile is a good chance to TT specialists, and CG contenders.

Over 165km from Amplepuis to Saint-Priest peloton will ride on a mid mountain stage where lasts 25km are flat. Sprinters will fight for the win.

Under 175km stage from Hauterives to Le Collet d'Allevard (11.2km - 8.5%) uphill finish climbers and GC contenders will fight for the win.

The Queen Stage with a 4316 vert.meters concentrates in 155km.
Last climb is Samoëns 1600 (10km - 9%) where grimpeurs and CG contenders will fight for the stage win.

Up to 160km stage and vert.meters:3751 peloton goes from Thônes to the last judge of this Critérium du Dauphiné edition. Plateau des Glières ( 9.3km - 7.3%) uphill ending.
Gc contenders and climbers will fight for the win.

Starlist

The starlist of 76th Critérium du Dauphiné is plenty of climbers, TT specialists and few sprinters. Teams are warming up their grimpeurs and specialist and let them the chances to improve tactics and strategies before Tour de France.
