The women's peloton heads to Navarre and the Basque Country

Three days after the Vuelta Femenina by Carrefour.es and two days before the Itzulia Women (both in the Women’s WorldTour category), the Navarra Women’s Elite Classic takes advantage to consolidate its position in the calendar and repeats as a race in the women's ProSeries, the second division of world cycling. In this article, we will preview both the one-day race in Navarre and the three-day Basque event.

Navarra Women’s Elite Classic

The Navarre race is characterized by a succession of “muros”, short but steep climbs typical of the area. This time, the race includes 9 categorized “muros” along the route, totaling 1886 meters of accumulated positive elevation.

Two days before the race, a provisional start list has not yet been published, so it is impossible to talk about favorites. Climbers and punchers should dominate the race.

Itzulia Women

The Basque race consists of three medium mountain stages, without major climbs but also without opportunities for sprinters. The third stage, which follows the most emblematic roads of the Donostia San Sebastián Klasikoa, with the climbs of Jaizkibel (6.8 km at 6.2%) and the alto de Mendizorrotz (3.4 km at 8.4%), and the finish in the streets of San Sebastián, will undoubtedly be decisive for the general classification.

Demi Vollering (1200), Katarzyna Niewiadoma (1000), Marlen Reusser (1000), Olivia Baril (600), Elise Chabbey (1000), Mavi Garcia (800), Anne Santesteban (600), Niamh Fisher-Black (800), Shirin Van Anrooij (800), Juliette Labous (1000), Evita Muzic (800), or Ingvild Gåskjenn (200) are some of the favorites.
