Luis Ocaña was the greatest Spanish cyclist of the early 1970s. He won the overall classification of the Tour de France in 1973 and the Vuelta a España in 1970. In addition, Ocaña achieved 9 stage wins in the Tour de France and the overall classification in several week-long races, particularly in the Critérium du Dauphiné (1970, 1972, 1973). He was the Spanish champion in 1972.
