Bernard Hinault was the last French cyclist to win the Tour de France, in 1985, a year in which he achieved his fifth and final Tour victory. Hinault also accumulated 28 stage wins in the French race and won several Monuments: 2 Liège-Bastogne-Liège, 2 Giro di Lombardia, and a Paris-Roubaix, which he claimed in 1981 wearing the rainbow jersey of the World Champion won in 1980. Arguably, the greatest French cyclist of all time.
