25 years celebrating cycling

The Bemer Cyclassics is a WorldTour race, but it is much more: throughout the weekend, the German city of Hamburg lives its cycling festival, with popular races of different distances that bring together nearly 15,000 participants. After two years without being held due to the effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic, it will finally be in 2022 when the 25th edition of the event will be held.

Route

The route of the men's elite event totals 222 kilometers, and includes four ascents to the Waseberg climb (0.7 km at 9.7%) in the final part, where there may be attacks for victory or to leave the purest sprinters behind. Still, some kind of sprint is usually the most common outcome of the race.

Wout Van Aert (1200) returns to competition after the Tour and starts as the main favorite from a spectacular start list which also includes Jasper Philipsen (1200), Fabio Jakobsen (800), Caleb Ewan (800), Alexander Kristoff (800) , Dylan Groenewegen (400), Michael Matthews (1000), Peter Sagan (1,000), Magnus Cort Nielsen (800), Phil Bauhaus (800), Elia Viviani (600), Fernando Gaviria (800), Giacomo Nizzolo (800), Christophe Laporte (800), Alberto Dainese (600) or Hugo Hofstetter (600).
