4 classics in Mayenne

This Thursday begin the Boucles de la Mayenne, a new stop of the ProSeries in French territory. The race, which was held for the first time in 1975 as an amateur race, became professional in 2005, and last year the first edition integrated into the ProSeries, the second category in world cycling, was held. The race takes place in the department of Mayenne, in the French region of Pays de la Loire, and presents a route of four stages with profiles with the scent of classics, ideal for puncheurs and specialists in hill racing.

Route

The four stages include positive slopes between 1,700 and 2,500 meters, so it is possible that we will see small groups arrivals and attacks in the final kilometers, especially in the first three stages, which include short climbs close to the finish line. The last stage is the clearest opportunity for the sprinters, with the arrival at the local circuit in Laval, where last year there was already a beautiful sprint that was won by Arnaud Demare (1200), who also won the general classification.

Favorites

We have to look for the favorites between sprinters who can overcome the hills and fast puncheurs. Bryan Coquard (600) is perfectly adapted to the route and is perhaps the main favorite, along with classics riders such as Benoît Cosnefroy (600), Greg Van Avermaet (400), Amaury Capiot (600), Benjamin Thomas (200) and Anthony Turgis (400). Pascal Ackermann (1000), Alex Aramburu (600), Hugo Hofstetter (600), Stanislaw Aniolkowski (400), Jason Tesson (200), Jake Stewart (200) or Iván García Cortina (400) will also presumably be in the fight for the stages, although they may lose time at some point and contesting the general classification may be difficult for them.
