8 days through Great Britain

The 2021 edition of the Tour of Britain will start on the Cornish peninsula, in the southwest of England, and during the eight days of competition the cyclists will have to go north, they will cross Wales and end up in Scotland, after more than 1,300 kilometers on the bike and almost 20,000 meters of climbing.

Route

As we were saying, 8 stages make up this edition of the race, in what is an assortment of hilly stages. Without large mountains on the way, the route does not include purely flat stages either, and only two stages have less than 2000 meters of climbing. A team time trial of 18 km on the third day will be the most special thing we’ll see, since it is a discipline less and less present in cycling in recent years.

Favorites

Wout Van Aert (1200) returns to competition after a well-deserved rest after the Olympics and, although his form is uncertain, he is one of the main candidates for victory. Other favorites to take the general classification are Deceunick-Quick-Step riders Julian Alaphilippe (1000), Davide Ballerini (600), Mikkel Frølich Honorée (400) and Yves Lampaert (400) or those of Ineos Grenadiers, who once again present a super top lineup that includes Richie Porte (800), Ethan Hayter (600), Rohan Dennis (600), Michael Kwiatkowski (400) and Carlos Rodríguez (200). On paper, they look like the big favorites in the team time trial, where they are going to try to take as much advantage as they can.

For sprint arrivals, the fastest man seems to be Mark Cavendish (600), and his main rivals will presumably be André Greipel (400), Max Kanter (400) or the aforementioned Hayter and Van Aert.
