Mountains and time trials will decide in Romandie

As we are used to, the Tour de Romandie arrives this year loaded with climbs and ITTs. Primož Roglič (1200) will be trying to defend the title, and next to the former ski jumper, Geraint Thomas (1200), Michael Woods (800), Emanuel Buchmann (1000), Domenico Pozzovivo (1200) or Pierre Latour (800) are shaping up as the main candidates for the GC. Attention to the startlist.

Two individual time trials

The 2019 edition includes, like last year, two individual time trials to make the race attractive to specialists against the clock. The main favorite in these stages will be, of course, Victor Campenaerts (800), who set a new record of the hour just a week ago.

Other good timetralists in the startlist are Alex Dowsett (400), Stefan Küng (800), Jonathan Castroviejo (800), Daniel Felipe Martínez Poveda (600), Patrick Bevin (800), Geraint Thomas (1200) or the Jumbo Visma Jos Van Emden (600), Tony Martin (400) and, above all, the current champion Primož Roglič (1200).

No clear arrivals for sprinters

Although several top sprinters like Elia Viviani (1200), Sam Bennet (1200), Giacomo Nizzolo (800), Sonny Colbrelli (1000) or Simone Consonni (800) will be in Romandia, there are no clear stages for them. It is true that a couple of them can reach the massive sprint, but they are not flat stages, and if the sprinters make it, it will be with tired legs. In addition, these stages are also coveted by the getaway specialists, and Thomas de Gendt (800) will take the start. The show of the Belgian in the Volta a Catalunya is still in the retina.
