Sprinters against puncheurs
Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race is the first day race of the men's World Tour calendar. The sprint was reached last year, where Elia Viviani (1200) won over Caleb Ewan (1200) and Daryl Impey (1000), although mass arrivals are not the most common. Normally, puncheurs and climbers try to take advantage of the last climb to Challambra Crescent, at 10 km from home, to break the race and filter the pure sprinters, although the pace has to be hellish or there is a risk that some sprinters endure. Men like Elia Viviani (1200), Caleb Ewan (1200), Sam Bennet (1200) or Jasper Philipsen (600) have enough quality to make it to the line.
Apart from sprinters, other favorites are all rounders such as 2018 edition winner Jay Mc Carthy (600), Darryl Impey (1000), Ryan Gibbons (600), Nathan Haas (600), Dries Devenyns (400) or Luis León Sánchez (800). It seems more unlikely that pure climbers like Simon Yates (1200) or Richie Porte (800) get the jackpot, as it seems complicated that they can arrive alone.
Finally, for our team in Cycling Fantasy, it is advisable to study the results of Santos Tour Down Under, as the startlist is practically traced.
