A day for sprinters in Almería
Clásica de Almería celebrates its XXXV edition in 2022 and, once again, remains faithful to its character as a classic for sprinters. The list of top sprinters who won it in recent years speaks for itself: Giacomo Nizzolo (800) (2021), Pascal Ackermann (1000) (2020 and 2019), Caleb Ewan (1000) (2018), Magnus Cort (600) (2017), Mark Cavendish (800) (2015) and Sam Bennett (1000) (2014) have been able to raise their arms in the race.
Route
For the fifth consecutive year, Roquetas de Mar will host the finish line, but before riders must complete the 188-kilometer route, which includes 4 categorized climbs. The hardest of them is the first, Alto de Celín (6.8 km at 4.7%), which is located more than 130 km from home. Afterwards, the cyclists will have to overcome Alto de la Alqueria (1.6 km at 6.1%), Alto de la Fuente Marvella (1.4 km at 7.1%) and Cuesta de Almerimar (1.1 km to 5.7%). This top of the last climb is located 50 kilometers from the finish line.
