A finale for puncheurs in Namur

Few races have such a traditional final kilometer as the Grand Prix de Wallonie, whose finish line in the Citadelle de Namur (1.2 km at 4.2%) is one of the most recognizable finishes on the annual cycling calendar. A characteristic feature that makes the race an unmissable event for puncheurs and classics riders, especially for those who compete in the autumn season of one-day races in Belgium and northern France.

Route

202 km and 2,750 vertical meters are the cold figures of a race that, in practice, is perfect for specialists in the Ardennes classics. The initial part of the route includes some climbs that can help shape the breakaway, while the second third of the race is flatter and works in favor of the peloton. Finally, the fireworks will presumably light up in the final 20 km, with the climb to Tienne aux Pierres (3 km at 5.2%) and the ascension to the Citadelle de Namur (1.2 km at 4.2%) .

Favorites

We must look for candidates for victory among puncheurs and explosive riders, so Mathieu Van Der Poel (1200) starts as the big favorite. Benoît Cosnefroy (400), Biniam Girmay (600), Warren Barguil (400), Greg Van Avermaet (400), Dylan Teuns (600), Victor Campenaerts (400), Julian Simon (200), Loïc Vliegen (200), Tobias Johannessen (400), Amanuri Capiot (400), Stefano Oldani (400) and Philippe Gilbert (200) are other men who can hold victory ambitions. Sprinters like Jasper Philipsen (1200) or Luca Mozzato (400) are tough riders, although the final ramp may be too hard for them.
