A jersey for specialists
The individual time trial is the most specialized discipline in road cycling: a rider pedaling alone, looking for the shortest line in every turn, trying to optimize strength and aerodynamic position to steal seconds from the clock. During the year, there are very few occasions in which a time trial is not inserted within a stage race, so the European Continental Championships ITT offer the specialists against the clock one of the few occasions to achieve a big victory, and in this case is accompanied by the beautiful continental champion starry jersey.
Route
The women's and men's race share the route, 23.94 km around the town of Fürstenfeldbruck, a few kilometers from Munich. With the exception of a 400 meter ramp at 7.4% just after the start, the route is completely flat and without too many turns, so the most powerful cyclists have the upper hand.
Women's time trial: the favorites
Marlen Reusser (800) and Ellen Van Dijk (800) are the two main favorites for the women's event. Juliette Labous (800), Emma Norsgaard (1000), Riejanne Markus (600) or Anna Keisenhofer (200) are also good time trialists.
