A sprint in Almería
This Sunday, February 12, it is time for the Clásica de Almería, one of the most obvious sprinters’ races throughout the season. In recent years, the list of winners has been enlarged with some of the fastest men of the decade: Alexander Kristoff (800) (2022), Giacomo Nizzolo (600) (2021), Pascal Ackermann (600) (2020, 2019), Caleb Ewan (800) (2018), Magnus Cort (800) (2017), Mark Cavendish (1000) (2015) and Sam Bennet (800) (2014) have raised their arms in Almería.
The route
Although the race includes several climbs such as Alto de Celin (7 km at 4.6%), Alto de la Alqueria (1.5 km at 6.7%), Alto de Fuente Marbella (1.5 km at 7.1%) or Cuesta de Almerimar (1.2 km at 5.3%), all of them are located far from home, so there is plenty of ground for the sprinters’ teams to ensure the bunch to come together to the finish line.
Favorites
Fernando Gaviria (800), Alexander Kristoff (800), Arnaud De Lie (200), Bryan Coquard (600), Iván García Cortina (400), Nacer Bouhanni (400), Maximilian Walscheid (400) and Paul Penhoet (200) are some of the best sprinters that we can find on the provisional start list.
