A Tirreno-Adriatico under the shadow of the Tour

In this exceptional 2020, Tirreno-Adriatico is unlucky enough to overlap with the Tour de France, and with all the spotlights on the French round, it runs the risk of going unnoticed. Usually, the race of the two seas takes place in March, and with the change of dates, the race has won one day of competition, with a total of eight stages.

If everything goes according to the organization's plan, there are three clear occasions for the sprinters, two hilly stages for breakaways or reduced sprints, and two mountain stages and a time trial to decide the GC.

Primož Roglič (1200) will not be on the starting list to defend title, as he is competing in the Tour de France, but there are important men in the peloton such as Jakob Fuglsang (1000), who was third last year. Other serious candidates for the general classification are the three men from Ineos Grenadiers Chris Froome (600), Geraint Thomas (1000) and Rohan Dennis (1000), the Italian Vincenzo Nibali (800), or Simon Yates (1000). Laurens De Plus (600), Wilco Kelderman (800), Alexander Vlasov (200), Michael Woods (600) or James Knox (600) start as outsiders but they can surprise.

For the sprints, there are many candidates: Fernando Gaviria (800), Pascal Ackermann (1000), Michael Matthews (1000), Ivan García Cortina (600), Mike Teunissen (600), Mark Cavendish (200), Davide Ballerini (600), Alvaro José Hodeg (400), Davide Cimolai (400) or Alberto Dainese (400), among others.
