A weekend in Brittany

This weekend, two ProSeries races are taking place in the French region of Brittany. On Saturday, the Grand Prix de Morbihan will test the puncheurs and sprinters, while Sunday will see the Tro-Bro Léon and its famous dirt roads. Two very different races, but due to their geographical and temporal proximity, they share much of the starting lists.

Grand Prix de Morbihan: Route and favorites

The Grand Prix de Morbihan features a clearly recognizable route, including 5 laps of a first circuit (13.7 km long) and 8 more laps of a second circuit (7.8 km long), both around the town of Plumelec. The finish line, located atop the Côte de Cadoudal (1.7 km at 6.3%), is crossed a total of 13 times throughout the race.

Julien Simon (200) has won this race 3 times and is one of the main favorites, alongside riders like Arnaud de Lie (600), Vincenzo Albanese (400), Bryan Coquard (800), Benoît Cosnefroy (400), Lorenzo Rota (400), Paul Penhoet (400), Rasmus Tiller (200), Clement Venturini (200), Samuel Watson (200), and Sandy Dujardin (200).

Tro-Bro Léon: Route and favorites

In what concerns Tro-Bro Léon, the race reaches its 40th edition this year, and to celebrate the milestone, it proposes a route that breaks the race’s kilometers on dirt record. In total, 29 ribins (the Breton name for the famous dirt and stone roads characteristic of the race) add up to 34.6 kilometers of sterrato out of the total 203 kilometers of the race.

Alexander Kristoff (600), Arnaud De Lie (600), Luca Mozzato (400), Rasmus Tiller (400), Amaury Capiot (200), Samuel Watson (200), Anthony Turgis (200), John Degenkolb (200), and Stan Dewulf (200) are some of the riders best suited to the race among those on the provisional start list.
