Cycling Festival in Hamburg

The ADAC Cyclassics is the crown jewel of a super cycling Sunday in the German city of Hamburg. The elite race, part of the UCI WorldTour (the highest category of men’s professional cycling), is the finale of a massive day in which more than 10,000 amateur cyclists take to their bikes to participate in the city’s organized amateur rides.

Route

The elite race features the longest course in its history, at 207 km, and this time the elevation gain rises to 1,800 meters. Although the race is still considered flat and favorable to sprinters, the five climbs up the Wasberg hill (0.7 km at 9.9%) could make for a more selective race and reward attacking riders.

Favourites

UAE Team Emirates lines up with Sebastián Molano (600) as their sprinter, but they are very likely to try to make the race hard. The rest of the team includes Isaac Del Toro (1000), Alessandro Covi (200), Jonathan Narváez (600), Jan Christen (400), Nils Politt (200), and Brandon McNulty (800) — all capable of winning if the race becomes selective.

Wout Van Aert (1200), Jonathan Milan (1000), Kaden Groves (1000), Biniam Girmay (1000), Arnaud De Lie (800), Tobias Lund Andresen (600), Phil Bauhaus (600), Bryan Coquard (800), Alexander Kristoff (600), Sam Bennett (600), Danny Van Poppel (600), Paul Penhoet (400), Marc Hirschi (600), Paul Magnier (400), Laurence Pithie (400), Alberto Bettiol (400), Alfred Wright (400), Matej Mohorič (600), Matteo Trentin (400), and Arnaud Démare (400) are also notable riders on the start list.
