Frankfurt is ready for its sprint
The city center of Frankfurt, in Germany, is the spectacular setting for one of the most anticipated sprints of the year. Even when the Eschborn-Frankfurt route includes 2,654 meters of climbing, these climbs are located far from the finish line, and the race control taken care of by the sprinters’ teams make it difficult to avoid a bunch sprint. The longest climb of the day is the Feldberg (11 km at 4.8%), but its position at the start of the race means that it is not decisive for the race outcome, and the same happens with the 4 ascents of the Mammolshainer Stich (2.3 km at 7 .6%), which is crested for the last time 40 km from the finish line.
Favorites
The winner of the 2021 edition Jasper Philipsen (1200) heads the list of favorites, where the 4-time winner of the race Alexander Kristoff (800) also stands out. The field also includes other top-level sprinters, such as Sam Bennett (1000), Giacomo Nizzolo (800), Fernando Gaviria (800), Danny Van Poppel (600), Hugo Hofstetter (400), John Degenkolb (600), Biniam Grmay (200) and Arnaud De Lie (200).
