Frankfurt’s cycling festival
Eschborn-Frankfurt is Germany's most important race. Alongside the BEMER Cyclassics, it is one of the two events in the men's UCI WorldTour held in the country, and of the two, the Frankfurt race clearly accumulates more history and prestige. This event, held every year on May 1st (Labour Day), was first held in 1962. In addition to the WorldTour event, several races for youth and children and an amateur ride take place, turning the day into a festive occasion where the city celebrates a genuine bicycle festival.
Route
The route of the WorldTour race has not changed from last year's edition, when Søren Kragh Andersen (400) won the sprint from a group of 10 riders who managed to break away from the peloton. In total, 2939 meters of positive elevation gain, mostly accumulated in the first part of the route, will test the endurance of the sprinters, who have traditionally dominated the race.
Favorites
We are likely to see another beautiful battle between the breakaway and the peloton this time, although the provisional start list does not include as many top-level sprinters as in previous occasions, so there may be more teams going on the attack.
Thibaut Nys (200), Neilson Powless (800), Sam Bennett (600), Alexander Kristoff (800), Alex Aranburu (600), Tobias Johannessen (600), Marc Hirschi (600), Caleb Ewan (600), Luca Mozzato (600), Soren Waerenskjold (400), Mike Teunissen (400), Axel Laurence (200), Ivan García Cortina (400), Amaury Capiot (200), Emils Liepins (200), Laurenz Rex (200), Nils Politt (200), or last year's winner Søren Kragh Andersen (400) are some of the main favorites.
