Hamburg celebrates its cycling festival

Next Sunday, August 20th, the German city of Hamburg celebrates the 26th edition of the Bemer Cyclassics, a bicycle festival featuring popular races that attract thousands of amateur cyclists year after year. Additionally, the event concludes with the professional race of the same name, which is part of the UCI WorldTour, adding a spectacular ending to a Sunday filled with excitement.

Route

The professional race covers a distance of 205 km and includes 996 meters of positive elevation gain. The Waseberg climb (0.7 km at 9.4%), which is tackled three times in the final part of the route, serves as a platform for attacks, although breaking away from the peloton is challenging, and the race usually comes down to a sprint finish.

The starting list features many of the world's top sprinters. Mads Pedersen (1200), Tim Merlier (800), Ethan Hayter (1200), Olav Kooij (1000), Phil Bauhaus (800), Michael Matthews (1000), Dylan Groenewegen (800), Fernando Gaviria (800), Sam Bennett (600), Pascal Ackermann (600), Bryan Coquard (600), Caleb Ewan (600), Giacomo Nizzolo (400), Luca Mozzato (400), and Cees Bol (400) are among the main contenders for victory.
