Heading up North
The Arctic Race of Norway is the northernmost race on the professional calendar. Created in 2013 by A.S.O. (the organizers of the Tour de France), this race has become, in just a few years, an unmissable event of the season, thanks to the spectacular landscapes it crosses and the strong Norwegian cycling passion.
Route
As usual, the race consists of four stages, with no major mountain passes. The first two stages offer the best opportunities for sprinters, while the general classification will likely be decided on the uphill finish of the third stage in Målselv (3.8 km at 8%) and the final stage, held on a 16-kilometer circuit in Tromsø that includes the Prestvannet climb (1.2 km at 7%), which the riders will lap eight times.
Favorites
Three days before the race starts, most teams have yet to announce their rosters. However, some key riders have already confirmed their participation. So far, Thomas Pidcock (1000), Corbin Strong (600), Dylan Teuns (200), Cristian Scaroni (600), Clément Champoussin (400), Andreas Leknessund (200), and Kevin Vermaeke (200) are among the main contenders for the general classification.
For the sprints, Alexander Kristoff (600), Arne Marit (200), Davide Ballerini (200), and Corbin Strong (600) are expected to be the fastest.
