Irish cyclocross makes history
This Sunday, the Cyclocross World Cup leaves continental Europe and moves to Ireland for the first ever World Cup race to be held in the country. The setting for this historic event will be the Sport Ireland Campus in Blanchardstown, on the outskirts of Dublin, a national center for athletes of different disciplines that includes a velodrome and a cyclocross skills circuit, inspired by the one that the UCI has in its headquarters in Aigle, Switzerland.
Favorites women’s race
One more week, Dutch Fem Van Empel (1200) and Puck Pieterse (1200) are the two great favorites for the women's event. Their compatriots Denise Betsema (1200), Inge Van Der Heijden (1000) and Manon Bakker (600) also stand out on the list.
Favorite men's race
For the men's race, superstars Wout Van Aert (1200) and Thomas Pidcock (1000) are a priori the two great favorites to win this historic first Irish World Cup race, where we miss Mathieu Van Der Poel (1200), winner in the races in Hulst and Antwerpen the last two weeks. Other candidates to achieve a good result are Laurens Sweeck (1000), Eli Iserbyt (1200), Lars Van Der Haar (1200) and Michael Vanthourenthout (1200), who are competing for the overall classification of the Cyclocloss World Cup, currently led by Sweeck.
