Itzulia Women takes over from the Vuelta
La Vuelta Femenina by Carrefour.es ended last Saturday, but much of the peloton that participated in the race remains in Spain. The reason is that the Women’s WorldTour calendar continues in the country with the Itzulia Women, which begins this Friday and will capture the attention of women’s cycling fans for three days.
Route
The three stages of this Itzulia Women feature medium-mountain profiles, without summit finishes but with opportunities to shake up the race far from the finish line. The Jaizkibel climb (7.9 km at 5.5%) on the third day is the only first-category ascent of the race, but it crests 67 km from the finish, which may be too far for a decisive attack.
Favorites
Demi Vollering (1200) was the strongest rider in the Vuelta Femenina by Carrefour.es and once again starts as the woman to beat. Anna Van Der Breggen (200), Liane Lippert (1000), Micha Bredewold (800), Cecile Uttrup Ludwig (800), Shirin Van Anrooij (800), Yara Kastelijn (800), Mavi Garcia (800), Soraya Paladin (800), Antonia Niedermaier (600), Gaia Realini (1000), Anne Santesteban (600), and Marion Bunel (200) are also among the favourites.
