La Mayenne gets promoted to the ProSeries

The Boucles de la Mayenne have been held since 1975 in the French department of La Mayenne, in the Pays de la Loire region. The race was supposed to be integrated into the ProSeries in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 health crisis, las year’s edition was suspended. Thus, it will be in 2021 when the race finally goes up one category and joins the ProSeries, second level of world cycling.

Route

For the 2021 edition, the race has changed its format a bit, and replaces the traditional time trial prologue with a fourth regular stage. None of the stages contain big climbs, but they do include short but demanding hills. We will have to look for the favorites for the general classification in sprinters who can withstand these explosive climbs well.

Favorites

With the category upgrade, up to five UCI WordTeams will be in the startlist: Groupama -FDJ, AG2R Citröen, Cofidis, Intermarché Wanty Gobert Matériaux and Team DSM.

Arnaud Démare (1000), Marc Sarreau (400), Danny Van Poppel (400), Arvid De Kleijn (400), Kristoffer Halvorsen (400), Bryan Coquard (400), Timothy Dupont (400), Cees Bol (600), Jon Aberasturi (400) or Niccolò Bonifazio (400) are some of the fastest men on paper.
