Meanwhile, in Tuscany…
This week, all eyes in the cycling world are on the Volta a Catalunya and the Belgian Classics. However, a lesser-known Italian race, the GP Industria & Artigianato, is being held this Sunday without making too much noise. The race, a 1.Pro category event, is organized by a modest cycling club from the town of Larciano in Tuscany, the Unione Ciclistica Larcianese, so it is particularly noteworthy that the race has managed to reach the second division of world cycling.
Route
The GP Industria & Artigianato 2023 features a route consisting of two circuits around Larciano. The first covers 13.9 kilometers and is mostly flat, while the second is an extension of the first, reaching 29.1 km and including the only significant climb of the race, Fornello (2.7 km at 6.5%). It is worth noting that in previous editions of the race, this climb up to Fornello was extended to San Baronto, reaching a total of 8.6 km at 3.5%, so we are facing a less challenging race than on other occasions.
Cyclists will have to complete 6 laps of the first circuit and 4 of the second, totaling 200 km and 1985 meters of positive elevation gain in the race.
Favorites
Two days before the race, we still don't have the starting list, so we can't talk about favorites.
