Olympic Medals for Time Trialists
Next Friday, July 26th, the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place. Just a day later, on Saturday, July 27th, some of the first medals to be contested will be in the road cycling time trial events, where the world's top specialists in the discipline will compete for the three coveted Olympic medals.
Route
The course for both the men's and women's events is a completely flat 32 kilometers through the center of Paris, with long straight sections and no major technical difficulties. An ideal course for pure specialists.
Women's Race - Favorites
As expected, the starting list for the women's race is filled with great time trialists. Among the main medal contenders are Lotte Kopecky (1200), Grace Brown (600), Demi Vollering (1200), Chloe Dygert (600), Juliette Labous (1000), Anna Henderson (600), Christina Schweinberger (400), Elisa Longo Borghini (1200), Ellen Van Dijk (200), and Anna Kiesenhofer (200).
Men's Race - Favorites
Similarly, the list of participants in the men's race is almost exclusively made up of time trial specialists. Some of the main favorites include Remco Evenepoel (1200), Filippo Ganna (800), Wout Van Aert (1200), Joshua Tarling (200), Stefan Küng (600), Magnus Sheffield (600), Mikkel Bjerg (400), Stefan Bisseger (400), and Tobias Foss (400).
