San Luca, judge of the Giro dell’Emilia
The Giro dell’Emilia is one of the Italian classics with the most pedigree in the calendar. Both the men’s race, which celebrates its 108th edition in 2025, and the women’s race, which will be held for the 12th time, finish on the legendary climb to the San Luca Sanctuary in Bologna, one of the most iconic finishes in world cycling.
Women’s race: route and favorites
The women’s race covers 126 km with around 1,000 meters of elevation gain, all concentrated in the final part. This year, in addition to the usual double ascent to San Luca (2.1 km at 9.4%), where the finish line is located, the route includes a new climb: Monte Calvo (4.2 km at 5.5%), crested 24 km from the finish.
The overlap with the European Championships affects the start list, but still, several top riders will compete. Among the most notable are Niamh Fisher-Black (1000), Kimberley Le Court (1000), Neve Bradbury (600), Gaia Realini (600), Yara Kastelijn (800), Karlijn Swinkels (800), Katrin Aalerud (600), Soraya Paladin (400), Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (200), Cat Ferguson (200), Amanda Spratt (200) and the new world champion Magdeleine Vallieres (200).
