The epic of mud
Tro-Bro Léon is a special race, one of which offers something different that makes it recognizable year after year. If Paris-Roubaix is cobblestones and Strade Bianche is sterratto, Tro-Bro Léon is the race of dirt farm roads. Contested in Brittany, the race includes up to 24 sections on rural roads. The rain, which usually makes an appearance, just gives the final epic touch to the race, muddying the route. In addition, the race also gives a curious trophy to the best Breton rider: a piglet that always offers anecdotes on the podium.
The race has been part of the Coupe de France for years, so French cyclists who are contesting it tend to fight it hard. For years it has been a category 1.1 race but, after the suspension of the 2020 edition, this 2021 is released as part of the ProSeries, with which the startlist has risen in level and the range of favorites opens.
