The Italian classics begin
As always with the arrival of autumn, much of the cycling activity moves to northern Italy, where endless classics are disputed. These are races of all categories that rise in temperature until they culminate with Il Lombardia, the last of the five monuments of the year, and the unofficial end of the season for many fans.
The Coppa Sabatini - Gran Premio città di Peccioli will be the first of these races to be part of the ProSeries, and therefore the first to be held in Cycling Fantasy. However, a day before the Giro della Toscana takes place, which although it is of a lower category (1.1), can give us a glimpse of the form of the cyclists if we are attentive to the results.
The race takes place around the town of Peccioli, in Tuscany, and pays tribute to Giuseppe Sabatini (1915-1951), an Italian cyclist from Peccioli who raced in the 1930s.
Route
The 210 km route has a 45-kilometer section before entering the first 25-km circuit, which will be completed 5 laps. Finally, the second circuit has a length of 12 km and the cyclists will have to complete it 3 times. Although without major climbs, the race includes 2671 meters of positive slope, and can be decided in a distant attack like Alexey Lutsenko's (600) in 2019 or in a selected sprint like last year, where Dion Smith (400) won.
Favorites
With 3 days to go, the start list is still in very early stages, so we will have to pay attention to new incorporations. At the moment Diego Ulissi (1000), Geraint Thomas (800), Refal Majka (800), Dylan Teuns (600) and Gianni Moscon (400) are the main cyclists who have confirmed their participation.
