The Kapelmuur in June

The Kapelmuur, located in the Flemish town of Geraardsbergen, is one of the most famous cobbled hills in the world, primarily known for being one of the traditional climbs in the Ronde van Vlaanderen. Although the Muur has been removed from the Ronde in recent editions of the flemish monument, the iconic climb, with the chapel at its top, is still used in several races throughout the year, such as the upcoming Brussels Cycling Classic on Sunday.

Route

The Brussels Cycling Classic 2023 starts and finishes in Brussels. The race covers a distance of 207 kilometers and adds 1786 meters of positive slope and several cobbled climbs, including the Kapelmuur (1.2 km at 7.4%) and the Bosberg (0.9 km at 6%), which are each climbed twice.

Favorites

With 4 days to go, the start list is still in an early stage, and this makes it difficult to talk about favorites. At the moment, Tim Merlier (1000), Axel Zingle (200), Biniam Girmay (600), Marius Mayrhofer (200), Arnaud Démare (1000), Dries De Bondt (400), and Hugo Hofstetter (400) are some of the notable cyclists that can be found on the provisional list.
