The longest-lasting women's race

The Trofeo Alfredo Binda - Comune di Cittiglio is the women's event with the most editions held so far, as this Sunday the race reaches its 47th edition. The first time the race took place was in 1974, and although at first it was designed as a regional amateur race, over the years it was consolidated in the calendar and gradually rose in category until 2008, the year in which it made it to the old UCI World Cup. In 2016, with the creation of the UCI Women's WorldTour, the race directly became part of the new circuit that includes the best races in the world.

The name of the event pays homage to the famous cyclist from the 20s and 30s Alfredo Binda, born in the town of Cittiglio, where the race is held.

The route

The race presents an undulating profile over 139 kilometers. In the first part of the event, the cyclists will have to overcome Masciago Primo (5.1 km at 4.6%), but surely the race will be decided in the four laps on the 18-kilometers final circuit, which includes two short climbs: Casale (0.8 km at 7%) and Orino (2.6 km at 5%).

The favorites

The circuit provides an open scenario that can be solved in a sprint like the one won last year by Elisa Balsamo (1200), but which has also rewarded attacking riders like Elisa Longo Borghini (1200), who won solo in 2021. Elisa Balsamo (1200), Elise Chabbey (1000), Cecile Uttrup Ludwig (1000), Katarzyna Niewiadoma (1000), Juliette Labous (1000), Silvia Persico (800), Mavi García (800), Sofia Bertizzolo (800), Arlenis Sierra (600) and Karlijn Swinkels (600) are some of the most important riders we can find on the provisional starting list.
