The mother of all circuits
The Vlaamse Druivencross in Overijse is one of the oldest cyclocross races still running today, fully deserving of the popular nickname ‘the mother of all crosses'. The first edition of the race was held in 1960 and, since then, it has been held without interruption until today. As far as the route is concerned, the Overijse circuit is one of the most technical and difficult on the calendar, and it is common for crashes and accidents to mark the outcome of the race.
Favorites women’s race
Fem Van Empel (1200) is once again the big favorite for the women's race, although last week Shirin Van Anrooij (1000) showed that Van Empel can be beaten and managed to win in Beekse Bergen, where Puck Pieterse (1200) came also close. Other candidates are Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (1000), Denise Betsema (1200), Marianne Vos (1200) and Lucinda Brand (1200).
Favorites men's race
The start list for the men's race is marked by the debut in the 2022-2023 World Cup of world champion Thomas Pidcock (1200). Along with Pidcock, Laurens Sweeck (1000), Lars Van der Haar (1200), Eli Iserbyt (1200) and Michael Vanthourenthout (1200) are the main favorites.
