The two Veneto races are now in the ProSeries
The Giro del Veneto and the Veneto Classic are two one-day races that were categorized as 1.1 last year, but for this season, they have been upgraded to the ProSeries, the second category in world cycling. Historically, both races couldn't be more different: the Giro del Veneto is a century-old race (first held in 1922), while the Veneto Classic is only in its third edition this time.
In Cycling Fantasy, both races will count towards the Italy 1.Pro combined classification, and in fact, the Veneto Classic will be the final event of the annual Men ProSeries, after which the top 10 users in the category throughout the year will be awarded the 10 .Pro trophies.
Giro del Veneto: Route
The Giro del Veneto route covers a distance of 170 km with 1500 meters of elevation gain. The first 100 kilometers will take the cyclists from the start in Tombolo to Vicenza, where they will enter the final circuit, a 15-kilometer loop that they will have to complete just over 4 times. In the first part, there are some climbs to conquer, but normally the race will be decided on the local circuit and the five ascents to the finish line on Monte Berico (0.8 km at 7.9%).
Veneto Classic: Route
The Veneto Classic starts in Mel and finishes in Bassano del Grappa after 195 kilometers and 2500 meters of climbing. After the first 80 mostly flat kilometers, the race enters the first circuit, which is 12 kilometers long and includes the ascent of La Rosina (2.6 km at 6.3%). After completing 4 laps on this first circuit, there will be 60 kilometers left in the race, mostly contested in three laps of the second circuit, also 12 kilometers long, featuring the cobbled climb of La Tisa (0.3 km at 10.7%).
Before the finish, however, the cyclists will still have to tackle two final challenges: the sterrato section of Diesel Farm (1.2 km at 9.6%) and the ramp of Contra Soarda (0.4 km at 13%).
Favorites
Both start lists are still in a very early stage, and it's impossible to speak of favorites. We will have to be attentive to compose our teams.
