The WWT continues in Burgos
After last weekend's Itzulia Women, now it's the turn of the second stage race of the 2022 Women's WorldTour: the Vuelta a Burgos Féminas. Held for the first time in 2015, the Vuelta a Burgos Féminas quickly rose to the highest category of world cycling last year, so this year the second edition as a WWT event is held.
Route
The race is made up of four stages, of which the first two can finish in a sprint, although neither of them is completely flat and both have short climbs close to the finish line that can prevent a bunch sprint. The third and fourth stages are the same as in the last edition: the third presents the finish at Ojo Guareña (1.4 km at 3.9%) and is ideal for puncheurs, while the fourth and last presents the finish line at the top of Lagunas de Neila (11.9 km at 6.2%), which will decide the general classification.
Favorites
The start list is still at a very early stage with only 3 days left before the start of the race, although it is possible that many of the protagonists of the Itzulia Women will repeat in Burgos. At the moment, Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (1000) seems to be the big favorite for the general classification, and riders such as Kristen Faulkner (600), Mikayla Harvey (600), Ane Santesteban (400) and Silvia Persico (400) can get good results. For her part, Lotte Kopecky (1000) is the favorite to win the first three stages, although it is difficult to make predictions with such a weak startlist.
