Third Year in Dublin
Although Belgium continues to host the majority of races in the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup, efforts have been made in recent years to diversify the locations. Thus, several events have been given "protected race" status, such as the upcoming round, which will take place on Sunday in Dublin for the third consecutive year.
Course
The race is primarily held on grassy terrain, which, combined with the country's usual rainfall and the passage of cyclists, often turns the course into a muddy track. The sand section and planks could also prove decisive.
Favorites women's race
Fem Van Empel (1200) is the top favorite for victory in the women's race, following her wins at the European Championship and at the first round of the World Cup this past Sunday in Antwerp. Lucinda Brand (1000), Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (1200), Marie Schreiber (800), Kata Blanka Vas (800), and Zoe Backstedt (600) are the main challengers to another Van Empel victory.
Favorites men's race
Eli Iserbyt (1200), Michael Vanthourenhout (1000), Lars Van Der Haar (1200), Thibau Nys (600), and Felipe Orts (600) are among the contenders for the men's race. Special mention should go to Laurens Sweeck (1200) and Pim Ronhaar (800) for their skill on muddy terrain.
