Trofeo Pollença-Port d'Andratx

In the exciting Pollença-Port d'Andratx Trophy, Spanish cyclist Pelayo Sánchez from the Movistar team achieved an impressive victory, beating Marius Mayrhofer from the Tudor Pro Cycling Team and Aleksandr Vlasov from BORA - hansgrohe in a final sprint. The race, which was part of the Mallorca Challenge, featured a combination of flat and mountainous terrain, including challenging climbs such as the Coll de Femenías, Coll Puig Mayer, and Coll den Bleda.

The initial stage was marked by an escape led by riders like Idar Andersen, Jonas Gregaard, Dylan Vandenstorme, Cole Kessler, Hugo Scala, and Sebastian Niehues, although they were caught by the peloton about 40 kilometers from the finish line. The race had moments of high tension, especially when Spanish rider Igor Arrieta made a brave attempt to break away solo, leading with a significant advantage on the Coll de Estellencs.

However, Belgian rider Lennert Van Eetvelt, the recent winner of the Serra Tramuntana Trophy, managed to catch up with Arrieta on the ascent to Coll de sa Gramola, although a crash by Arrieta in a tricky curve reduced his chances of victory. Despite Van Eetvelt's effort, a select group of chasers caught up with him in the last kilometers.

Finally, the victory was decided in an exciting sprint among nine cyclists, with Pelayo Sánchez proving to be the fastest and strongest. With this triumph, Sánchez succeeds Kobe Goossens as the most recent champion of the Pollença-Port d'Andratx Trophy. The Mallorca Challenge concludes with the Palma Trophy, promising more excitement in cycling.
