Valencia, cycling land

The Comunidad Valenciana, in Spain, is one of the territories best known to professional cyclists, as many teams carry out their pre-season training camps in the area. Thus, the second race of the 2023 ProSeries, the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, will travel through roads and mountain passes that the peloton knows all too well.

The route

The race is made up of 5 medium mountain stages, with no clear options for sprinters. All stages include at least 2 mountain passes, so we might see differences in the overall classification from the first day. The arrivals of stage 2 at the Alto de Pinos (13.6 km at 3.2%, last 3.2 km at 7.2%) and stage 4 at the Alto de Cova Santa (8.1 km at 4.9%) will undoubtedly be decisive for the overall classification.

Favorites

Two days before the start of the race, there are still teams to confirm their lineups, so we must be attentive to new additions to the start list. The 2022 race winner, Alexander Vlasov (1200) will take the start to try to repeat the victory in the overall classification achieved last year. Pello Bilbao (1000), Thymen Arensman (600), Damiano Caruso (800), Matej Mohorič (800), Juan Ayuso (600), Gino Mäder (600), Carlos Rodríguez (600), Mikel Landa (600), Wout Poels (600), Lennard Kämna (600), Gonzalo Serrano (400), Tao Geoghegan Hart (400) or Edward Dunbar (200) are other cyclists who can adapt well to the route.
