Valencia opens the 2022 season

It's been more than 3 months without road cycling, but the 2022 season is finally here. We are so happy!

The Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana has the honor of being the inaugural race of the men's ProSeries of 2022, and will thus become the first of the year also in Cycling Fantasy. For the premiere of the WorldTour we will have to wait another 3 weeks until the UAE Tour.

Route

For this edition of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, the organizers have decided to return to the usual format without a time trial, so it will be necessary to look for the favorites among climbers. Presumably the first stage will mark the first differences, although the queen stage is the third, with the final climb to Alto de las Antenas del Maigmó (9.8 km at 7.6%). After stage 3, few changes are expected in the general classification, since the last two stages are flat and it is very likely that they both will finish in a bunch sprint.

Favorites

Remco Evenepoel (1200), Alexandr Vlasov (1000), Wilco Kelderman (1000), Jacob Fulgsang (800), Vincenzo Nibali (600), Marc Soler (400) and Jack Haig (800) are some of the main contenders for the general classification, where Alejandro Valverde (1000) deserves a special mention, since it is one of the races where he usually shines. Three times winner of the race, Valverde will try to get a fourth victory in the season of his retirement, 18 years after his first victory in the Valencian tour.

For the sprint arrivals, Giacomo Nizzolo (800), Fabio Jacobsen (800), Alexandr Kristoff (800) and Cees Bol (600) are the fastest on paper.
