Warming up for the World Champs
The Primus Classic takes place 5 days before the World Championship Road Race, and it does so in Flanders, very close to where the World Champs will be held. This double proximity, temporal and geographical, has led some of the main challengers to the rainbow jersey to use it to finish fine-tuning their form and test themselves against some of their main rivals.
Route
197 km make up the race, which includes several climbs and three cobbled sections, although the last 35 kilometers do not present major difficulties and can lead to regrouping if the peloton has cut off.
Favorites
Julian Alaphilippe (1000) and Mathieu Van Der Poel (1000) start as the two great favorites on a list that also includes Giacomo Nizzolo (800), Davide Ballerini (600), Jasper Stuyven (600), Elia Viviani (600), Tiesj Benoot (600), Nils Eekhoff (400) and the winner in 2019, Edward Theuns (400).
