Race analysis, favourites, and predictions for PostNord Danmark Rundt - Tour of Denmark 2022

Without a doubt, the 2022 Tour de France will be remembered as the Tour in which Denmark showed itself as a cycling land. The first three days of the French grand tour, on Danish soil and with the roads packed with spectators, showed the world the Danish passion for cycling, and the victory in two stages and the final GC achieved by Jonas Vingegaard (1200), together with the stage wins by Magnus Cort Nielsen (600) and Mads Pedersen (1000), confirmed that there are also great cyclists. The local race, the Postnord Danmark Rundt - Tour of Denmark, which closes the Nordic racing season, is a new opportunity for the Danes to get out on the streets, in what is expected to be a new cycling festival.

Route

The race is made up of 5 stages, of which the first and the fourth point to a bunch sprint. On the second day, an individual time trial of 12.33 km will mark the first differences between the General Classification contenders. The final GC will be decided on the fifth and final day, which has an undulating profile. Stage 3, for its part, can end in a sprint, although it includes several cobbled sections before the final circuit, which is entered with 40 km to go and does not include great difficulties.

Favorites

Without big mountain passes, the favorites will have to be good time trialists and classics riders who adapt well to the last stage. Geraint Thomas (800), Christophe Laporte (600), Magnus Cort Nielsen (600), Richie Porte (600), Stefan Bissegger (600), Tom Dumoulin (400), Soren Kragh Andersen (400), Mattias Skjelmose (600), Jasper Stuyven (600), Rune Herregodts (200) or Magnus Sheffield (200) are some of the main GC contenders.

For the sprints, Jasper Philipsen (1200), Mark Cavendish (1000), Olav Kooij (600), Stanislav Aniolkowski (400) and Matteo Moschetti (200) are some of the fastest men on the starting list.
