Race analysis, favourites, and predictions for Veneto Classic 2025
The European calendar comes to an end this week with the Giro del Veneto and the Veneto Classic. These two races, which joined the second tier of world cycling in 2023, bring the European season to its official close — although for many, the season already ended last weekend with Il Lombardia and Paris–Tours Élite.
Giro del Veneto: Route and Favorites
The Giro del Veneto is a century-old race. This year’s edition features a 160 km route with 1,500 meters of elevation gain, mostly concentrated in the final section, where riders will have to climb the Salita delle Torricelle (4 km at 5%) five times.
Isaac Del Toro (1000), Marc Hirschi (600), Romain Grégoire (800), Alex Aranburu (800), Cristian Scaroni (400), Tim Wellens (600), Matteo Trentin (400), Simone Velasco (400), and Fabio Christen (400) are among the most notable names on the start list.
Veneto Classic: Route and Favorites
Unlike the long-standing Giro del Veneto, the Veneto Classic is celebrating only its fifth edition this year. The race that closes the 2025 road calendar in Cycling Fantasy is tougher than Wednesday’s event, featuring 2,200 meters of elevation gain over 180 km. The course includes six climbs to La Tisa (0.4 km at 10.8%) and the ascent to Diesel Farm (1.3 km at 10.9%), along with a gravel section near the finish — the key points of the race.
The start list is still short, making it impossible to name clear favorites, although it’s highly likely that many riders competing on Wednesday will also line up here.
