Race analysis, favourites, and predictions for Vuelta a Burgos 2025
The position of the Vuelta a Burgos in the calendar, fifteen days before the start of La Vuelta ciclista a España, makes it the natural testing ground for riders looking to fine-tune their preparation ahead of the season’s final Grand Tour. Even so, the race is part of the UCI ProSeries and holds significance in its own right, particularly thanks to the repetition of iconic finishes like Lagunas de Neila and the climb to the Castle of Burgos.
Route
The race consists of 5 stages. The finish of the first stage at the Alto del Castillo de Burgos (0.9 km at 4.8%) is ideal for puncheurs, while the second stage offers the best opportunity of the week for sprinters. Thursday and Friday feature medium mountain profiles, while the overall classification will be decided on Saturday, with the traditional climb to Lagunas de Neila (6.4 km at 9.1%).
