Atala was an Italian cycling team founded in 1908 and, despite interruptions, it was in operation until 1989. Its story can be divided into 3 clear parts:
From its foundation in 1908 to 1919, cyclists such as Luigi Ganna, Carlo Galetti and Dario Beni stood out. Luigi Ganna was the winner of the first edition of the Giro d'Italia in 1909, and Carlo Galetti won the second and third editions in 1910 and 1911. In 1912 the Giro was raced in teams, and Atala was also the winner.
From 1946 to 1962, it is necessary to mention names like Vito Taccone, Giancarlo Astrua, Bruno Monti or Nino Catalano.
In 1978, it was re-created. First with the names of Intercontinentale, Sapa or Magniflex-Olmo, until 1982 it adopted the name Atala again. This last stage lasted until 1989.
