Gino Bartali had a cycling career that spanned almost twenty years, from 1935 to 1954, during which he achieved many successes, including two editions of the Tour de France and three of the Giro d'Italia, as well as four Milano-Sanremo and three Giro di Lombardia victories. Bartali was the champion of Italy on four occasions in three different decades (1935, 1937, 1940, and 1952).
