Fausto Coppi was the greatest Italian champion of all time. Winner of five editions of the Giro d'Italia and two of the Tour de France, Coppi also won the Giro di Lombardia five times, Milano-Sanremo three times, Paris-Roubaix once, and 22 stages of the Giro, among many other successes. Additionally, Coppi was also the Italian champion on three occasions: 1942, 1947, and 1955.
