Paolo Bettini was one of the most prominent cyclists of the first decade of the 2000s, with two victories in the World Championships, two in Liège-Bastogne-Liège, two in Giro di Lombardia, one in Milano-Sanremo, and one Olympic gold medal. Additionally, Bettini was the Italian national champion on two occasions, in 2003 and 2006.
