Molteni was an Italian professional team from 1958 until late 1976. They won 663 races, many of them thanks to their most famous racer, Eddy Merckx. In the team's final season, Italian-based bicycle components brand Campagnolo entered as a co-sponsor of the team. That year, Merckx took the last major victory of his career, his seventh Milano-Sanremo.
