In May 2020, Alpecin–Fenix announced the launch of a women's road team, with the aim of providing opportunities for their cyclocross stars to compete throughout the year.

The following March, with sponsorship from German hair care company Dr. Wolff and its caffeinated shampoo brand Plantur, and Dutch architectural materials supplier Pura NFC, the team was launched as Plantur– Pura.
