The Basque bicycle manufacturer Orbea had its own team during the 1980s. Originating in amateur cycling, the team turned professional from 1984 to 1989. During this period, the team changed its name depending on the sponsor of each season. In 1985 and 1986, the Spanish car manufacturer SEAT was the team's main sponsor, featuring riders such as Pedro Delgado and Pello Ruiz Cabestany.
