Eddy Merckx achieved his third World Championship in 1974, a year in which he also won his fifth Tour de France and fifth Giro d'Italia. Throughout his career, Merckx also won all five Monuments several times, making him undoubtedly the most decorated cyclist in history, earning him the nickname "The Cannibal."
