José María "el Chava" Jiménez was one of the most spectacular cyclists of the 1990s. A great climber, Jiménez shone particularly in the Vuelta a España, where he achieved 9 stage victories and won the King of the Mountains jersey four times. Jiménez was the Spanish champion in 1997.
